Juice Fast Day 18: We're so over this now.

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

We're over it. Slowing bring back in solid foods starting tomorrow.

The Good Stuff:
We feel great. High Energy, Mental Clarity. Lost Weight (down 17 pounds this morning)
Feel "rebooted". Broke bad food cravings. Ready to make healthy food choices.

The Bad:
We miss eating food. We're not really feeling soooo hungry, but food is really starting to sound good again. Really good. Also, in order to workout harder, we need to start eating. It's time. We are so tired of spending 2+ hours a night juicing enough for the two of us to drink the next day. My hands are so dry from washing the juicer over and over again for 2.5 weeks.

So, that being said, we're ending our juice fast a few days early. This was a good experience. I feel refreshed. I feel like my taste buds have changed and I once again have a taste for healthy foods.
My husband and I were starting our juicing routine tonight and just dreading it. We both agreed that we got exactly what we wanted from the experience but that we're just over it now. We are going to stop while we feel good, before this turns into a negative experience or makes us feel deprived and make us want to over do it when we go back to eating solid foods.

So here's the plan:
Tomorrow for breakfast and lunch we will have juice. For dinner we'll have a small/medium sized salad with a small amount of oil and vinegar, and a half glass of green juice.

Friday: Fruit for breakfast, Juice for lunch, Salad and half glass of green juice

Saturday: Fruit for breakfast, Salad for lunch and dinner and a glass of juice as a supplement

Sunday: Fruit for breakfast, Salad for lunch and dinner and a glass of juice as a supplement.

Monday I'll gradually start bringing back cooked foods like beans and lentils, and toward the end of the week I'll be making the salmon that I can't stop thinking about!

I expect I'll gain a pound or two in the beginning, but I'll also be able to workout harder and more days a week than I have been, so it should all work itself out in a week or so.

Good Night.

I'm on a fat fast now which is severly limiting what I can eat (I'm living on cream cheese and macadamia nuts) and have 1 day left totaling 3 days.... I read this and thought WOW if they can live on juice for that long I can make it through one more day.... lol congrats!

emoticon Great job. This is the jumpstart that you needed. Maybe still incorporate the juicing with your new healthy eating. Now go kick butt, you got a good start, don't waste it.

WOW! Very Impressive! 18 days is a huge feat to accomplish with a juice fast. I like how you're going to still incorporate juicing while bringing back solid foods! Much success to you and your family on becoming healthier!

I wouldn't be too surprised if you continue to lose. Even though you are adding back solids, it's not a lot of calories, and just more fruits and veggies the first few days. Are you able to munch a protein bar or almonds or anything after your workouts? That might help with feeling so tired and sluggish afterwards, maybe. You haven't had a lot of protein the past couple of weeks, right?

I'm just now reading about your juice cleanse - AWESOME!! Do be careful as you begin eating food (especially when you are at home with family - if they are like mine they may be urging you to eat things you wouldn't normally choose.) You ROCK!! emoticon

Kudos to you guys for putting away the Drill Sargent option (do or die) and really LISTENING to what your body, mind & spirit is telling you...You guys both knew at the same time that it's time to ease away from the juice. I find that awesome that, as a married couple, you both felt & decided the same thing at the same time. Imagine how tough it would be if hubby was like, "I'm having steak tonight!" and you're like, "NO, I've got 4 more days of juicing!" You guys are tuned in to each other.

That's something to be grateful for! :)

Looks like you have a good plan to start eating again. I know I have been thinking a lot about salad. I guess our taste buds really do change. Let me know how it goes. I am worried about feeling crazy hunger after eating for the first time. You did a great job! Way to go and congrats on 17 pounds!

I did a 90 day juice fast, lost too much muscle mass and gained the weight back. It is hard to do without lots of fruit.

Your body knows best--there is a reason you are craving salmon. I had some yesterday--yummy!

Your plan sounds fine, it is amazing how fast your taste buds change--watch out they change back fast too.
