Back when we were in High School, one of my friends and I discovered SparkTeens. We both started using it- her to actually lose weight, me not because I needed to lose weight but that I wanted to increase my confidence. She stopped using it after a few months. I stuck with it. When I turned 18 I graduated to SparkPeople.
Fast-forward about 5-6 years. Today the two of us started talking through text as we do almost every day. I asked her: 'Ever thought about re-trying SparkPeople?' The reply I got was neutral: 'Nah. I like their site for info, but plugging everything in all the time is exhausting. I'm enjoying just going to my classes at the gym and not really thinking about what it all adds up to'. Fair enough.
When she asked if I was still using it I answered: 'Best thing that's ever happened to me.' And it's true. Even though I've never met 99% of you in person, I feel like I really know you. I look forward to hearing about what goes on in your day, sharing your triumphs and am genuinely sad when hearing about setbacks etc.
All in all it was an interesting conversation. And was good to hear her take on it- even if it wasn't what I was hoping to hear.
