Advice for walking with an aircast??

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

I would imagine there are some of you out there in Sparkland who have had the opportunity to wear an aircast boot on their leg! I have now joined the few and proud courtesy of having a surgery on my foot last week!

For those of you who have had experience with walking in one for weeks/months, do you have any advice/wisdom to share what made it easier? The lopsided gait will be a challenge, even with the lifts that I added to my regular shoe that I have tried to match in height. How did you manage the discomfort in hips?

I will also need to be creative in my workouts (working upper body at home now!) and am eager to get back to the gym.

The "bling" for the boot is already on....I have a beautiful color choice painted on for 'toenail' polish! High fashion indeed!

Thanks in advance to any of you who have already paved the way....

Choosing to make lemonade.....

I had the walking cast/boot thing for about 12 weeks (quite a few years ago). Biggest thing for me was wearing a shoe on the other door with a bigger wedge heel. My normal flats just didn't work. I also got massages several times to work out the muscle kinks in/around the hips & lower back. Hope others have more help for you! Praying for your recovery!

I have no experience with an aircast, but wanted to say 'get well soon!'

i wanted to follow this post because i broke my foot 8 days ago and finally today my doc calls with a follow up visit with the ortho/sports medicine dr.
i dont know what he is going to tell me, but i know they will do their own set of xrays, mri, or whatever.
it is a stress fracture and i sure do hope it isnt surgical, and that it heals in time, and hopefully sooner than later.
why is it when we finally decide to get healthy and for me, to walk, which i have been doing religiously and with great love for it since may...that thing is taken from us
it has depressed me deeply
but i hope things work out for you and that you do well and hopefully for me to... emoticon
