Day 411- Excited for the future

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Hey everyone.

I'm excited for the future for many reasons.

I'm back on track health wise. I've lost 2 pounds each of the past two weeks and I hope to continue that pattern for a while.

I also found out that I made it through the first round of decisions for my first real world job! Haven't gotten an interview yet, but had to send responses back to the search committee so that's something. Though I'm wondering if I should take down my 1 year blog that has before photos of me. I'm not embarrassed by the photos but I'm not sure how deep employers dig. I never say my last name on this site, but "Jan-Marie" is a unique enough name that who knows. What do you think? Should I take the pics down? I think it would make the blog less effective but who knows.

I'm really pumped for my half marathon in April. I'm only starting real training now, but I ran 2 miles with my boyfriend and barely broke a sweat! I could barely believe how easily I was breathing when we finished. I think I might actually survive the 13.1 miles! Haha

Also, I'm signing up for my school's Biggest Loser program. It's not a competition so much as you pay $35 and get access to a bunch of fitness classes and speakers this semester. They will also measure my starting and ending Body Fat with calipers so that will be an experience. I wish I had gotten my body fat information when I first started this journey because I'm almost certain at 275 pounds I had to have been around 40-45%. I'd ultimately like to be around 18% I think, but if I can lose 2% during this semester I will consider that a great accomplishment. Maybe I'll be able to set better goals once I'm measured.

Okay. I'm still drinking water and staying on track with food so yay for that.

Happy Humpday!

I agree with the other comments about leaving the pictures up. It shows all of the dedication and commitment you made to losing weight.

Congrats on such a great run! I thought about running a 5k, but I have yet to start training.

I would think the pictures would only add to the image of you as responsible and dedicated. Google yourself and see what comes up.....then figure out if you have to do any clean up work!

If I were you, I would leave your one year blog up. It shows how far you've come and how much you've accomplished. I think, if anything, this would impress a potential employer that you have such dedication.

Congrats on the easy run. There is nothing better than going for a run and feeling like it's no big deal. Sounds like you're on a roll, girl!

I would definitly keep the pics up! I like to go back on peoples blogs to see how far they have come.... It is inspiring to see how they felt when they started out or the progress they are making. And i like to compair ther attitudes as far as when they started and where they are now. It gives me perspective about how everyone has challenges and it reminds me that I am not the only one who gets discouraged. But seeing the good and the not so good is very helpful for me personally. emoticon on your progress!!!

    You are doing great!
I wouldn't take the pictures down, but I would consider making my profile "private" so people can see it only if you add them as a friend. I changed mine some weeks ago, just to be sure.

Congrats! I hope you get the job. And as far as the pictures go I don't think they will check, but if they do I think they would definitely be impressed by your perseverance. Good luck to you!

I don't think you have to worry about taking them down. They are really looking for inappropriate behavior type things. You are set. Good luck with your challenge.

I wouldn't take the pictures down. I've interviewed people and beyond looking up FB accounts, I've never really researched a candidate on the internet. Granted, I don't work in HR, my company just allows employees of a group be a part of the interviewing process. But I can say, if you were interviewing for a position in my group and I somehow stumbled across your blog, I would be highly impressed with your journey and would see you as a strong, powerful, determined woman who doesn't allow anything to get in her way. To me, that would make you memorable and I would have a positive impression of you before even meeting you. You might be surprised but a question such as "Describe a difficult hurdle in your life and how you overcame it." would be the perfect opportunity to talk about your journey and wow your interviewers.

I wouldn't take it down. If they decide to look you up online, they may be able to see that you are a go getter and once you have your eyes on a goal, you'll do what it takes to get there.

Good luck getting the job!

You're doing great dear! I don't know if I've seen your one year blog, I'm going to go have a look at it. But why would you need to take it down for a job? I'm not sure. It's totally up to you though girl! Best of luck! xx
