Tragic ending to a sweet girl

So if you live in the Houston area and watch the news I am sure you saw the accident on 610 loop Monday night... well one of the victims was a very close friend of mine's daughter. Skyla was only 14 years old with a very promising life ahead of her. The news story is very basic and does not tell the events leading up to the accident, just that two were killed in a stolen car. Well I am here to get the facts straight!
On Tuesday, 1/8/13, the male driver (also 14) got in some major trouble. Let me back up a little bit more. This boy lives with his aunt because at age12 his 'father' got a paternity test which showed he was not in fact the boys biological father and immediately took off. The mother is a transient in the Dallas area somewhere, so you can see he has a troubling past. NO excuse there, just wanted to paint a small picture. Well on Tuesday the 8th he was at school and his aunt was packing away the Christmas decorations when she opened a tote loaded with guns and ammo. She immediately called the police and had them come over and take the guns out of her home. She told the police her nephew had to be the one who hid them and because he was on probation she would like the police to do something with him. The police said there was nothing they could do because the guns were in her home.
Let me back up a little more. Sometime last year, my friendís daughter ran away with this boy. They were missing for a little over a week before they decided to return home. During that time, the boy got in trouble for something and was placed in juvenile detention for three months. When he was released back into the custody of his aunt he was placed on probation.
Okay, so we were on Tuesday. So the cops came, took the guns and that was that. No prosecution or discipline for the boy...and he stole the guns too...but still the police's hands were 'tied'.
Wednesday, the boy went to school with a knife, was confronted by the school and later suspended for the rest of the week. AGAIN, police did not do anything to the boy...who is on probation!!! Probation is supposed to be those who are trying to get their life back on the up and up...clearly he was not so something should have done!
Okay, so Thursday the boy stole a vehicle then called my friends daughter and told her he would be by the school to pick her up. Young and in love, she followed his instructions and skipped the rest of the day and got in the car with him.
Well seeing that my friendís daughter did not come home that night or the following morning my friend filed a missing persons report again and started the search....and then got the call Monday morning. Her daughter was in that stolen car that the police found driving the wrong way. The boy was driving and crashed because he would not stop with the police tried to pull him over. He lost control and hit a barrier ejecting and killing him, leaving my friends daughter pinned in the car to die alone.
Please READ all facts before casting judgment. I am reading all the reports on TV and online and none of this information is posted...itís a shame. If the police would have done something on Tuesday, Skyla would still be with us, and he would be too but behind bars where he truly belongs.
