Mixing things up a bit....

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Well, I am happy to say that SOME of the mysterious 4 pounds went away! About 1.5.

I am going to try something, just to see what happens. I have been reading about intermittent fasting and am going to try the "Up day, down day" way of eating for a while. Every other day I will keep my calories under 500. The up days will be normal eating days, but still low carb. The health benefits look super! And weight loss should speed up, if I am lucky. I am starting TODAY (no time like the present) and am not starving or killing anyone (yet)! I had a protein shake for breakfast, a boiled egg for snack, shirataki noodles with a light sauce for lunch and am at 250 calories. I'm making beef and broccoli stirfry for dinner, but I probably will not eat any, I'll save it for tomorrows lunch. I am excited to try this, I love experimenting!

There are so many ways to IF. Basically, whatever works best for your schedule. I do a 16/8 daily. I find anything more than that, really isnt necessary and actually doesnt do much for my progress and I read that it doesnt do that much more for autophagy either.

Perfect Health Diet's webpage talks about fasting w/food. I can give you the link if you want, it might even be on our team page. (if not, it should be and will be soon!) But he also advocates 16/8, and then your regular calories in your window. Calories & macros, for whatever goal it is you are trying to accomplish.

Thanks for sharing!

I think the best way (for me) of using IF, is when you have had a splurge:) It's like using a protein day when I know I am retaining water from too much wine, for instance! These are all good tools.

My fasting usually starts at 8 or 9 pm and ends at noon the next day. It will be interesting to hear how it goes with the up day down day.

Please let us know how it is all grist to the mill emoticon
