Yesterday was supposed to be a cardio day. The weather here in the south east has been rainy for like "ever"! I just could not get motivated to get dressed and brave the cold, rainy, icky day to get to the gym. My body ached all over, my mind was foggy, just not feeling like myself. Now before you "go there", I do not have the flu but just wasn't feeling the motivation to exercise. After toying with the idea of just pushing through it, I finally gave into my visceral feelings. I piled up in the bed, in front of the tv, with three cats on my lap and a cup of decaf green tea. Before you know it I was out before the lights were! I actually got a full 8 hours sleep, something I haven't done in years. Apparently that was just what my body needed, because I awoke at 5am, dressed for the gym and got my cardio done (beating my previously recorded time for each mile). It's late afternoon and I am still energized and ready to hit my sports conditioning class this evening, followed by a short core class.
I must remember what my trainer keeps telling me, "never sacrifice sleep for workout! Plan ahead and get both in each day."
