Today is the beginning of BLC21. I have joined this team to really be accountable for what I put in my mouth and when.

I have been having a VERY rough week. Things are ALWAYS crazy around here, but this week has just been out of control and so have I.

It started with DS7 getting into a bit of trouble at school on thursday and having to meet with the principal on friday. Then saturday he woke up with a stomach virus. DH has been coughing all week and getting worse every day and that is on top of his other issues . Then sunday night my horse had an upset belly and I had to call the vet. Luckily we caught it early and he recovered quickly. Monday I woke up to meowing and in 17 year old INDOOR cat was OUTSIDE. She must have snuck out while I was checking on the horse at some point. She must have met another cat or a raccoon because she was limping and very lethargic so off to the vet with her too. They treated her monday and took some blood. On tuesday the vet called and asked me to bring her back for more tests and more treatments. I brought her home at the end of the day and today she is looking much better. Meanwhile DS7 still has a fever, but it is only 100.5 today. And of course there is DS4 who is staying healthy, but is ALWAYS a handful.

I am pretty sure that I have consumed thousands upon thousands of calories in the past week. I have not been able to exercise much either although I did make it to class on saturday before I realized DS7 was really sick.

Anyway, I really just had to vent somewhere. I am exhausted and cranky and blue.

I think I am doing alright today. I have been so busy that I have not eaten very much and I went to the vegetable market and bought tons of washed and cut up produce. It is a luxury I allow myself when I need to get in control. I REALLY need to get back in control of myself. No matter how much food I shove in my face at the end of the day, it is NOT going to change the things that are happening around me. It doesn't even make me feel better.

I am planning to have edemame nuggets or tofu strips with a salad tonight for dinner and some fruit for desert. I will do my best not to give in when I am tired at the end of the day. I have to go out one more time to take DS4 to swimming and then I can make dinner, clean up the kitchen and GO TO BED!!!

I have also managed to work some TNT into my day. I think I'll do some leg raises and crunches next. If I'm really good, I will get on the treadmill while DS4 is in the pool at the Y!

Thanks for reading my blog today. I really appreciate your personal support and all of SP's support. I am feeling better already.

    Oh Sweetie I'm so sorry!! Tis the season for the illness, though that doesn't make it any better, does it? Great job on going and getting all those veggies to have at your hand when you reach for something. Isn't it interesting how the eating increases with the stress level? But as you say, it's not like it makes the sources of the stress any less.. I am glad the critters are okay, and that DS7 seems to be on the mend, and that you have jumped off the speeding train, taken a breath, and said enough.. We are all right here, standing by your side, giving your our best thoughts and prayers, and whatever else you need, my friend.. xoxo..

    Jennifer, anyone who treats themselves with veggies is one in control MoM! emoticon As moms we do it all and that is the most difficult job in the world. Add in fur mom and that's another full time job. You have A LOT on your plate. Please try to make time for YOU in that mix so you don't end up sick too. emoticon

    Goodness, Jennifer, I got worn out just READING about your week! Way to get on top of it and create a plan to stop the madness -- I especially love the way you treat yourself with fresh, cut-up produce! emoticon

    This is the second blog that I've read with sick families! Make sure that you are taking care of yourself so that you don't get sick and that the stress doesn't get to you. Hang in there!

    Jennifer, congrats on getting back in control. We all have bad weeks, but you did not let it get you down. I love pre-cut fruits and veggies. They save me during the week. I hope the new week is better.

Sounds like you are one the right track though. It's so hard when our pets and/or children are hurting! It's impressive that you got in your exercising!

    GAH, Jennifer, and I thought *i* was having a day!! Today's 'extra' is to 'do' something EXTRA (der) in the kitchen on top of all the other ordinary every day chores, but noOOOoooOOO!!! WHAT AM I DOING?!! I'm sloppin' toilet water up in the master bath and disinfecting anything that it touched!! I'll take that over sick children, sick animals and sick husbands ANY & EVERY day!!

One thing I think I'm learning from all this wading is... my 'extra' can be changed- it's okay to let something that's NOT an emergency or a priority to take the back burner while something else DEMANDS my full attention. You're staying *on*top* the *B*E*S*T* you can and readjusting when you can, so don't be too HARD on yourself, my friend. You're dealing with the children and the poor fur babies on top of your man's health fight sooo... try to lighten up on YOU, k?!!

Just *look* at all the good food you've brought home for your family. If you get to the leg raises & crunches, gr8, BUT... treadmills and any questionable calories are NOT to be stressed over. You're gr8 at balancing and you'll have everything back on track b4 you know it!! emoticon
