I haven't blogged for ten days because my whole family is sick. All six kids have come down with it, as have hubby and I. Thankfully, my illness has stayed in my sinuses so far. Three of my kids are on the mend. Three are still recovering, including Patrick, my asthmatic. Pat is going to the doctor for the third time in the last two weeks. I finally convinced hubby to go to the doctor as well. He has similar lungs to Pat's and gets pretty sick. The hardest part for me so far has been getting sleep. I need decongestants for my sinuses, but even the short acting pseudoephedrine taken early in the day seems to keep me up at night. All of this is happening as I'm starting to get through my busiest week of work in a few years. Yikes!
Nutrition: I've managed to keep eating completely healthy during all this. Hubby thinks that's part of the reason I'm doing better than everyone else. I'm eating lots of spinach, drinking my green sludge (veggie smoothie) and have not indulged in refined sugars at all.
Fitness: Current exercise streak ended before the weekend. I have lots of scattered shifts here and there, so on my days off I'm resting as much as I can. It's all I can do to try to feed this sickly crew and keep up with laundry. I recruit the healthiest of the kids to help me on any given day and remind them that I don't feel great either. The days of mom taking care of everyone by herself are long gone. We all have to muscle through this together.
So my plan for the next week or two:
1. Keep eating healthy! Lots of veggies along with my protein.
2. Minimal or no exercise until we get through this.
3. Keep up with the things I have to at home, and have the kids help while Hubby is laid up.
I don't know when I'll blog again. I just don't have time until we get rid of this horrible bug. Stay healthy everyone!
