Back better today

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Thanks so much everyone for your tips and suggestions. I babied my back yesterday and applied heat and today it is much better.

Nothing much to report from sunny Mexico accept I am still up a pound over goal so am eating light to try and get it off. I know some of you have heard about the diet The Plan that has to do with foods that your body chemistry might not handle as well and cause inflamation. I find it very interesting and when I am back in the states might pick up a copy of the book. The program has you do this cleanse diet for like 3 days and then add back in other foods one at a time to see if they cause inflamation to your body. Some things that might do this are foods I eat all the time like almonds and egg whites. I eat them both just about everyday. But I hope they aren't causing my body to retain water as I love them and they really hold back my hunger. I have no idea what I would replace them with that would still hold my hunger at bay and also fill me up for low calories. I guess overall I shouldn't worry as when I eat them I can still lose the weight from a splurge....it's just that I like getting under that goal weight so I can splurge. Just food for thought.
Hope you all are doing well.
Make it a great day.
Sallie

Glad your back is feeling better.
Don't worry too much about the almonds and eggwhites, you seem to fine on them right now. Maybe cut them out for a few days and see what happens? I made the carrot soup yesterday and it turned out really well.

The almond & egg white thing s something I've never heard, either! I try to 'mix up' my nuts, but almonds are THE one, for me! I need to find low calories foods with vitamin e in them. Any ideas? It is SO dry here, I was told by an intuitive I need more vit. e & protein. I'm getting about 60-90 grams of protein a day, so will be checking all of these things out! I eat allot of egg whites, & maybe 1 egg a week, lot's of chicken. I wish I liked fish more! But I am taking 2,000 units of fish oil, daily!

Enjoy your facial! emoticon

Glad your back is better. I was back at the chiropractor and massage therapist today. When you can get and move freely your last binge will fall off.

Glad your back is better! I too like egg whites -that is my usual supper -had not heard anything about them causing inflammation. The fact that you are successful with maintaining shows you have found what works for you.

Almonds are my favourite snack too. I just
buy them raw and roast them. You will lose
the extra pound, no worries. I'm glad to hear
that your back is better. Have a nice day.

I finally checked my scale and I'm at 145 instead of 150 after the holiday indulgences so I'm heading the right direction too

I think you need to read the book. Just because almonds can be bad for one person, doesn't mean they're bad for another. The point of the book is finding out what foods suit you which can be vastly different to which foods suit another person.

So don't worry, you can carry on happily eating the diet you're on for now!

    Hi Sallie,
I have been gone for awhile, but I am back now. Sorry to hear that you have been having back problems. I hope that you mend very quickly.
Do you know if it is possible on Spark to have a glutten free diet? I know that I can create myown, but I was hoping to use their resources for awhile

Don't go crazy and decide to do any Marathons over the weekend, Sallie!

Stay positive in doing this plan. It sounds like something my doctor did with me some time ago when I was a total train wreck. The result was "non of the above!" I was just in terrible shape!

Looking forward to seeing what you find out. Be well.

Interesting. I think about all that is known now that wasn't known when I started dieting, but then realize there is so much more to know. I'm sure someday there will be food plans individualized to a person's chemistry. So glad I lucked out and finally found what works for me. Take care. Happy light eating!! I do find that light eating days can be happy ones.

I will try and look up that book.

I know I have trouble with inflamation at times.

I haven't heard that eggs or almonds could cause water retention, unless there's salt on them. Glad your back is better.
