The greatest part of my day

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

This week it has been raining, and it make my body hurt. I do have arthritis , and before I started doing sp, I let arthritis rule my life. But Monday morning it was pouring down rain and I got out of bed , hurting ,stiff and walking like I was drunk and made my way into the kitchen and made my coffee, took meds, and turned to my spark people, worked on it and got ready and left the house and went to curves, and then went to clean a house. Yesterday I had doctors appointments and yes it was raining. The first one was at 7:30 am, I tied to remember ,what was I thinking to make this appointment so early, anyway that went fine , it was a follow up. I did have her to check my ear again it had been bothering me, and again I had to have them washed out, they are feeling great now. The other thing was I told her I wanted to quit smoking and had been thinking about it for some time and now I think I am ready. She sent Robert in to talk to me. He said that this is what he done all day long. He talked to people about, quitting smoking, diabetes, stress, weight, and etc. this helped me, now I know which way to turn and it is nice to know he is there ,if I need to talk to him about this ,or any of the other things ,allot of what I am going through. After this appointment ,I went to curves, went to visit,my daughter, picked up my son he likes to go with me to some of my doctors, and we went to heart doctor. The EKG was great, everything sounded great, although I had a small blockage and had some half pain time to time, but no other symptoms, we were good to next year unless I had problems. And course,he said ,since I had a small blockage, I probably had a tiny one in my leg. I needed to quit smoking, and I told him about the morning and I had discussed this and was on my way to making a plan. He really made me mad, when he said I hadn't lost much weight, my son jumped in and said, she has joined sp and curves and walking , about my sugars and cholesterol being down and how happy ,my other doc. was, and I was probably, building muscle and it weighed more than fat and I had lost inches. The doc ,said you are right, told me to keep up the good work and wished me to have good success on quitting smoking. My son turned a discouraging moment about weight lost into a motivating one. I don't think a doctor, should discourage you for trying. Anyway ,the best part of the day was my husband had to go to the doctor too. He went for diabetes and blood work, but they send there labs off so it will be awhile for we know about his results, but his bp was good. He said, they sent a guy , Robert in to talk to him about stress and diabetes, He told him his job stressed him out, and as far as eating right he would work on it, but he hated eating a diet that consist of things that didn't taste good. I know low carbs are better, with diabetes, but my hubby likes the carbs, but this opened the doorway, all I have to do, it get him to do is portion control them. I think he can do this. Anyway I told him I had talked to Robert too, about smoking, he said if you are going to try , I will too. Woo, I was willing to go it alone, but this is great. So maybe by us supporting each other in this ,other things will work out. I will support him on his efforts of his diet and he will support me. I told him that Monday, he had really eaten healthy, weather he knew it or not, and he had enjoyed it. He said yea, that was good. Wish me luck and prayers. I will blog again about this when I have progress. emoticon

Great blog! You have a tough road ahead of you. But I know you will succeed because you're ready to do it. You're ready to take the steps necessary to get healthy--like making and going to your doctors appts, seeking help to quit smoking, making changes in your nutrition that will help you lose weight and still support your body.

That second doctor is a bully! You don't want to lose too fast. It's better to make changes that are sustainable and help your body adjust more easily. No shock to the system. (I mean, yes, I know we all want to be thin *tomorrow*, but we all know that's not realistic. You're doing fabulous!

I'm so glad your son told the Dr. about all the progress you've been making. You (and your health) is SO much more than a number on a scale! (But even doctors will take a random number and make assumptions about it.)

Rock on!

I an so happy all your appts turned out to be good. Yes at times Dr can say the wrong thing or maybe its just the wrong way. I am glad your son was there to make sure you gotthe recogncition that you deserved. I know working with DH is the best and yes it took time for him to come around, but he is my best cheerleader these days and I am sure yours will too.
WTG! Keep working on things and diong your best, it will make a bigger difference in so many ways.
Hugs and smiles

I hope you are able to quit smoking. I know it will be difficult, but people do quit every day and you can find the strength within you to do it too. Best wishes!
