Saturday morning was really rushed for me and I will be straight up, I went to McDonalds for breakfast and had two sausage muffins and two hash browns. Yeah bad but that was breakfast and lunch and needed to sustain me until dinner. The thing was.. I used to just LOVE those sandwiches and hash browns, but I found myself looking at the second one in my hand and saying.. actually this is pretty disgusting. It seemed everything was just oozing fat and where I used to enjoy that something had gone wrong.. because I didn't enjoy it much at all and felt sick after. Sustain me? Yes it did I can't argue with that but I keep getting that picture in my head of staring at that muffin thinking it was disgusting and I am holding on to it. The next time greasy fast food beckons I will be giving it a miss.
I am back to eating salads, fruit, vegetables and I am honestly preferring that food. Still have a weakness for chocolate? I can't deny that either, but I have goals and after ballet class Monday I can't deny it was difficult. Ballet is difficult at this size, the potential for injury way greater, I really hurt after class, but I WANT it bad and I WANT en pointe bad too.
One thing I am discovering is that if it is something I enjoy exercise is NOT a chore. Sure, swimming is hard to do in the winter, it's so cold, then the water is cold, it's cold again getting out, but the swimming is essential to keep my body moving for the ballet. So, Monday is ballet night, it's what I do, Wednesday is also ballet night, so home, dinner, get changed, go to ballet, come home go to bed. Tuesday and Thursday swimming right after work, so in the mornings gym bag is automatically packed and put in the trunk as I leave for work and I go straight to the gym from work then home for dinner. It's just what I do.
I never thought that my habits and my tastes could change like this if I just worked at it, if I just found something that mattered enough to really put some effort in.. right now I am praying for health to keep this up so there are no more stops and some significant weight loss as a result of it.
Watch this space.
