Not My Cup of Tea

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

I tried a contemporary dance class yesterday. It' from 7.15 to 8.30 pm and I arrived home at 9.40 in pouring rain and 5C, which did not help.
The class was not what I had dreamt of and I was really upset. I will continue with my Ballet on sat. and gym whenever I knees and back still hurt and contemporay is not mine!!!

And a backward cabriole starting from a sitting position would be deadly for my spine!!!!

You wouldn't know you didn't like it if you didn't try it, right? That's how we learn. So chalk it up to experience, and stick with ballet. (This probably means that you are a classic dancer, not jazzy - personal style, just like fashion. In my mind you are a classic Italian beauty who likes a perfect skirt and sweater rather than the trendiest fashion. True?)

That is great that you tried something new. You might have loved it! You didn't, and now you know. Ballet is so beautiful. I would love to take a ballet class. Contemporary does look hard. They seem to spend a lot of time on the floor.

well sometimes you just have to try to know. i used to love yoga and did it every week - line dancing- kick boxing - all of it. but in the past five years things have changed a lot - it was shocking to me to find out how much i COULD NO LONGER DO. but like you i tried it again - realized i just have to walk or move at my own pace . it was disappointing - but i am grateful i am still moving.
do what you can - it is great.

I've tried different exercise programs and run into the same things you have - they weren't what I thought they were. But hey, dear friend, you are out there making an effort and for that imagine me standing up, clapping and shouting "Bravo, Bravo." (I'm so emotional I should have been Italian emoticon )

You are a source of inspiration and motivation to many of us, myself included.

Much Love
