Day 431A: The Morning Quickie

Wednesday, January 16, 2013 I've got my morning cuppa green tea at my elbow, and I'm browsing headlines and--

Gee, that tea's strong this morning.

...and I read a couple of blogs and check out the email and--

Gee, that tea's really strong.

Monday was grocery day and Himself got groceries this week. I was nearly out of green tea (he won't touch the stuff, but he understands my basic need for it) and put it on the list. I just assumed (and you know where ASSume gets you) that he'd know what brand.

I meandered out to the kitchen to check the box, figuring it would be generic or something and stronger than I'm used to. Nope. Same brand I always buy.

Back to my office. Back to surfing--

Gee, that tea is REALLY strong.

Only at this point do I look into the mug. There, resting on the bottom like a small island surrounded by a now-quite-dark sea, is the teabag I'd forgotten to discard.

How many times in life, confronted with what seems to be a problem, do we seek solutions high and low, going through all kinds of perambulations, only to discover there's a simple solution right before us?

Note to self: check for soggy teabags in the cup before setting up expeditions to climb Everest...

Have a good 'un, Sparklers - carpe diem!

You can often mask black tea that's too strong but green tea just gets nasty.

I was assuming that you've got a picture of little Miss Mary Pickford there? But the face seems just off too much. So I checked out your spark page: Olive Thomas! She's featured in a rather lurid book that my younger sister and I once loved very much called "Hollywood Babylon".

Anyhow---a long time ago I read a book by Ruth Rendell wherein Inspector Wexford developed hallucinations because he had too much and too strong green tea. So be careful!

That would mean prying my eyes open in the morning. I'm thrilled I get the coffee into the cup!

One historian said, after we grow old to believe in our uniqueness, we fall in love with our complexity. Maybe the same thing is true of the world? We seek complex solutions to simple problems because it's so hard to believe that the answer is so simple. Hmmmm. Reminds me of the diet chase in a way. The answer is not complex, it's a double serving!

Aw, but thing of all the extra movement you had by climbing your Mount Everest!

Insofar as husbands and groceries go, sometimes I think I should send mine with pictures of particular items on his camera so he doesn't get the wrong brand or thing. He's amazing in many ways, but not detail oriented at all!

emoticon Me, I made ginger tea with milk...saw it in a cook show with gordon Ramsey - indian restaurant people serving it as "chai". Read about how good ginger tea is to your digestion and started with having it in the evenin...and for the moment I carry a thermos with me...
