Oops! I can't believe I missed blogging the entire month of December! Yikes!
So, good news/bad news. The good news is that I didn't gain any weight over the holidays. I didn't lose any, either. I had been losing about a pound a month, which is not bad when you're not very overweight, and especially when you add in the food complications I'm dealing with-- lack of availability of produce and so forth.
The bad news is that I'm slowing down like I always seem to do in January! I had been doing at least one good, tough hike most weeks, plus evening walks, runs, or bike rides at least once a week. That has really slowed down because everything's been busy and the days are so darn *short!* And it has been cold-- we've even had a little snow. I did schedule a hard hike last week, but it was called on account of weather that then didn't materialize. It was one of those hikes where once you start, you're pretty much committed, and where there's no easy way to get to shelter if it starts raining. It didn't rain, but there was a risk and we were probably smart not to take it.
On the bright side, I've only gotten lost once recently, and even then I wasn't really lost. I knew where I was and I knew where I wanted to be; I just couldn't connect the two! And I turned around and got back before dark, plus I saw some cool things that I wouldn't have seen if I'd been in the right place. (Seventy-five-year-old trash heaps are fun!)
