New Chiropractor and Hooping

I'm really excited about my new chiropractor - we'll call him Dr. Andy. He figured out what the specialist, physical therapist, and other chiropractor never even checked for... He determined that my back pain is a result of unbalanced hips and back muscles that aren't firing correctly and is setting up a 4 week program for me that will involve exercises ("homework") that I'll do on my own as well as twice weekly adjustments. Dr. Andy is also a personal trainer! So he'll be teaching me what exercises I can and cannot do right now and he's been giving me nutrition and weight loss tips as well. I'm allowed to hula hoop but Dr. Andy says I need to hoop in both directions to keep my muscles balanced. So tonight I started to practice hooping with my non-dominant side and I'm pleased with my progress.

    WOW! That is cool that you can hoop both ways! I hadn't even thought of that but I guess it makes sense to balance the muscles equally. I may have to invest in a hoop and start - I have done the virtual hooping on the wii fit but I am sure that isn't the same as actually hooping - LOL. Just like playing the guitar on guitar hero or rock band isn't the same as the real guitar (har har). Happy Hooping! emoticon

    It is soooo important to find the right doctor/chiropractor. Yay for you!

Glad you can still hoop!
I just started hooping a week ago, and started out practicing on both sides just in case. I have back issues too, so I was paranoid about it. Strangely, when I had tried (hoopless) waist hooping back-front and side-side, it hurt my back, but corner-corner (or slant-slant?) works!

    Sounds like you've got a great Chiropractor! Glad you can continue hooping and he was knowledgeable about it. I practiced both directions and don't have a dominant side for body hooping now but some of the lifts are easier for me in one direction. That's a handedness thing, I guess. You look great and I enjoyed "seeing" and listening to you on the video. You're on your way to mending! WooHoo!
