I try and try - but there is so much hidden sodium in the foods - I try dusting it off the chips & if I have french fries I do the same. But, I still go over the amount I'm supposed to have. I canned my own veggies to help with this, but get in a hurry and just open a can from the store. I do dump the juice out & add a tiny bit of water to heat them, but I can't calculate the changes & it's probably not enough since it most likely is absorbed by the beans. My freezers are too full to buy frozen, which I know is better. Bought some fresh ones yesterday, because I love steamed veggies - a mix of squash, green beans, cabbage, onions, green peppers, and anything else fresh lying around - sprinkle w/ just a tad of Johnny's Seasoning salt and toss w/a tinsy bit of butter. Can't wait until tomorrow's supper - going to have steamed veggies & steamed Wild Salmon (my steamer allows the meat to go on the bottom rack & the veggies on the top one - takes about 30 minutes to cook and is so yummy.
