15 Minutes

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

So I had a bunch of chores and as I have mentioned I am struggling to overcome my fatness and laziness...so I said to myself - ok put 15 minutes on the clock and get cracking! Well 2 hours later(!) I had washed all the dishes, swept and mopped, picked up the entire house of toys and miscellaneous child debris, put in 2 loads of laundry, folded AND put away clothing (hey that's a big deal - clean laundry floats around the house for days before it finds it's way into the proper drawer/ hanger) and - this is huge- pulled out the fridge and the stove and wiped, scrubbed, and disinfected that whole grubby area! I must say - to those who are always on top of a clean home - I wish I could have that skill- but being who I am this was a great accomplishment. I did it in 15 minute increments, just pushing myself to do 15 minutes at a time, going from area to area and not overwhelming myself with the aggravating task ahead. I felt good about myself and I realize that maybe I need to coax myself but I can get it done- 15 minutes at a time still amounts to something.
