Finally, that doctor appointment!

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Okay, here goes my day.

At job: it was insane. I ran all day, not taking break and making reports while eating lunch. Not healthy, but I actually had no choice.

Doctor appointment: Nice beginning.

The doctor called me at his office 5 minutes before the appointment time. That NEVER happened before. (Reminder: here in Canada, province of Quebec, we do not pay to see the doctor when it is in a public hospital - okay, we pay a lot with our taxes but it doesn't show) My doctor is usually 45 minutes - one hour late at least.

When I showed my sheet with my pressure that I took since november, she agreed that we had to change the medication. When I told her I was sometimes taking another pill because I was feeling bad, she said it was okay. And it was, because the prescription is the double of the same med I'm taking right now.

For the sugar, the tests showed that I was having diabetes. I was pre-diabetes for so long that I thought it would take several years.

You know what? That diabetes explains why I always fall on my bed with no energy, feeling bad physically! Why I'm never able to finish chores because I'm always too exhausted. I am relieved to see that we see the underlying condition so that I can treat that.

I have a new med that you take like an insulin shot - it's called Victoza. At first, I thought that the injection would be painful but you do not feel anything - that is great! Victoza is a liraglutide (that's what's written on the box). It will help me to regular my sugar, a bit of my high blood pressure and can help me lose weight. For the first weeks, I may have nausea. They say it's normal and will go away.

Finally, for the sugar I have a brand new glucometer that is a usb port. I like the fact that it can make graphics for you!

Final note: I watched Once Upon a time with my boyfriend this evening, while eating SmartPop popcorn. I really enjoy this weekly activity! :D (And, by the way, I can't wait for the new season of The Walking Dead, and also Grimm! Yep, I like bloody series)

Sounds like the doctor was very helpful. Now you can treat the diabetes and maybe eventually it will go away. One choice at a time you can get better.
