I've been thinking a lot about goals lately, and what motivates me. I've been thinking a lot about these two topics because I don't know about them.
I mean, yeah, I have A GOAL: I wanna lose weight. That's the broad umbrella GOAL, the top of the heap, the awe-inspiring Emerald City wherein I will find the Wizard Who Will Make Everything Perfect.
That's a whole lotta horse-hockey. I know it. You know it. Life is still life, and the problems and difficulties that come with it will still be there, except I'll be wearing a size twelve instead of a twenty-four.
So I'm looking at breaking *THE* GOAL into little goals, like walking for at least ten minutes every day after work, or not eating McDonald's on the way into work. These little goals, when done daily, become a streak, which is a really cool evolution, if you think about it. Today those little goals have morphed into eight consecutive days without McDonald's (or Hardees or the like), and nine consecutive days of walking.
Motivation is a more difficult thing to pin down. I'm not motivated by money. I'm not motivated by clothes.
This is going to require some heavy duty thinking: Stay tuned.
