I received this DVD from SparkPeople, and in turn, i am doing a blog on how I like it.
I am opting to do Coach Nicoleís Custom Workouts. You can pick and choose your way through the DVD, but I need the discipline of someone TELLING me what I am going to do. I might repeat myself a few times here, so forgive me and press on. I am going to give you the daily blow by blow.
This week, I am doing the Beginner Weekly Workout. Each week I plan on progressing. Should be tons of fun, especially if you are a fly on my wall!
Day 1: 1/4/2013
Today was day 1 for me. Like a starting from scratch in the fitness world kind of day 1. As in before I ever started Sparking. Why? Because I have been doing ZERO fitness since August. Other than the occasional 5kÖ(love that I have been able to just go show up at a 5k and finish it in style with a bitíoíbling around my neck and not injure myself. God is really watching out for me! Itís gotta be Him, because I know Iím not being a good example of how to be fit and fabulous on my own.
Each workout includes a warm up/cool down. Day 1 Bodyweight Burn was a total of 30 minutes. 4 minute warm up, 22 minutes workout, and 4 minute cool down.
Seems to me that the warm up and cool down were almost as hard as the actual workout! Coach Nicole is making me sweat, so YAY!
I am rhythmically challenged, so not only was this a physical workout, it was a mental workout too. My brain needs all the help it can get!
Day 2: 1/5 Saturday rest or cross train option day.
Any guesses as to which option I chose? Rest. My thighs are still killing me from all of the squats and lunges from day 1!
Day 3: 1/6 Sunday
Talk about killing me. I thought day one was rough. There was a 4-minute warm up, 20 minutes of me killing (and NOT in a good way) the rhythm of the Barre Body Blast workout. No, I didnít keep the rhythm at all, I did get a good work out trying and I am SO glad there was nobody around to watch me stumble my way through. My thighs are still killing me from Friday, so I am sure that tomorrow they will be doubly sore. Afterwards a 4-minute cool down.
I was so glad to be done! There was a small weight used in this. And a chair for balance. They do have an option for not using the weight and also a beginnerís option for those who have balance issues. Coach Nicole has 2 workout buddies, one does the hard stuff and one does the easy button version. I try to stick with the more advanced stuff because I donít want to be too easy on myself. I know I have what it takes; I just have to DO IT!
I can hardly wait to see what we do on the 8th, day 5. Its ďSizzle-SculptĒ day. WooHoo!
Day 4 1/7 Rest
Day 5 1/8 Sizzle-Sculpt
It was as WooHoo as I had expected and MORE. Cardio, weights, lunges, and more choreography than a Broadway show. I am worn out, that is for sure. Got a great workout. Mentally and physically. Coach Nicole, Youíre Killing ME!
I can handle the lunges, the weights, the squats, the rows, the kicks, and more. I just canít seem to coordinate all of the movements of these parts in unison. If you guys could see me, it would be like a Charlie Chaplin movie. Or maybe even the 3 Stooges. My arms and legs are just flying to and fro trying to stay up with these gals.
Is there anyone else in the world that has this same lack of rhythm?
I am going to stick with this workout. Mostly because I need the challenge. It has been really good for me to have a schedule to stick to. Today was the last workout for the week on the dvd schedule, so I will be doing something else on days 6 and 7 which are cross train and rest days.
I should start the intermediate weekly workout on Friday the 11th. However, I have a 5k on Saturday and I donít want to do any damage between now and then. I will just be hanging out at the pool doing some water running instead. Yup, running in the water! itís awesome! Especially since it is a heated pool. Then on Sunday I will start week 2 and I will report back to you at the end of the week how I am doing. Maybe I will get my husband (DwightyBob) to take a video of me for your entertainment!
