Hello Friends! I'm so thankful to be back today. It's only been a week but boy has it been a week that I will definitely try to forget, haha. Not to go into too much details but I have been really struggling with my T.O.M. with cramps and terrible migraines. Well, I thought it was migraines but as I read further into my symptoms, I'm wondering if I have a sinus infection minus all the side effects (apparently it's possible). When we moved to the Shenandoah region, my husband was advised by his company's health practitioner that people that move to this area tend to have sinus infections much more than in other areas. It supposedly has something to deal with the mountains and ocean? Not really sure if this is true as I haven't found anything of sorts written anywhere online but I guess it could be factual. Who knows... So now I'm taking some OTC cold medicine and it seems to be relieving me of some head congestion creating pain in my head. Hooray! Not much for chemical medicine but something had to be taken as it was a bit unbearable.
Okay enough of the bad stuff and on to the good stuff as to why we are all here.
: Food has been really strange lately and I haven't been counting calories - it's been more of a if you are hungry listen to your body type of week. Considering the circumstances, I'll take it and not worry too much as long as I didn't gain. But if I did, nothing can be done about it but move on.
Breakfast: Grits but couldn't eat them and had a slice of homemade bread instead with coconut butter (Olivio).
Lunch: Didn't really have an appetite so I chose to have leftover baked beans and a few oranges.
Dinner: Soup Friday so I put together a simple recipe of Turnip soup - you can find the recipe on my site if you want to make it. It's full of protein and vitamins - yum!
Snack: I know that I snacked a few times today but I'm not really sure what I had anymore.. I did have lots of herbal and green teas but that's about it...
Saturday: We were out and about the entire day in Charlottesville, VA. It's a bit of a drive from our house so we stayed the whole day but then got to stop by Trader Joes and Whole Foods (we don't have either within an hour from our house gasp!). Trader Joes was so large - the largest I've ever seen! The aisles were amazing!
Breakfast: 1/2 Starbucks bagel and a few Dunkin Donut Holes and Starbucks Coffee.
Snack: New Englands' Organic Maple Syrup Energy Bar.
Lunch: We were still out and I saw a Mellow Mushroom which has an amazing Vegan Pizza called Mega Veg. It has artichokes, spinach, tomatoes, black olives, pepperocini and even daiya cheese. Yum! The restaurant is really fun (unless you have a headache and there are screaming kids)
Snack: Herbal Tea at Java Java - cute place that also has vegan options if in town.
We also went to the Barboursville Winery and Ruins (House Thomas Jefferson designed) for wine tasting. Yea, probably not the best idea when one has a really bad headache but I couldn't ask the husband to just go home without getting to go there. It was really pretty though and we walked around the estate a bit before tasting wine.
After tasting wine we really didn't do much since I had just a terrible migraine. I just basically slept and the good hubby went ahead and read or did something else (not really sure). We did have dinner but I didn't take a photo -sorry.
