Okay we all know since I have gotten the fitbit that my goal is to climb at least 6 floors and to climb 10 at least 3 times a week and earn a badge. I have been breaking it down into 3 floors at a time. If I climb up to the apartment the fitbit will register 2 floors. What I do is go down on flight and climb back up and then go all the way downstairs and back upstairs to the apartment. That gives me three floors. When I take my walk, going up the small hill gives me 3 floors. Yesterday I decided to go for 4 floors to see if I could do it, and I did do it.

So that I wouldn't have to go out in the cold so often, the porch is enclosed so I don't wear a jacket, I decided today to push for 5. I did it. The last floor was hard, and I was puffing, but I had no choice but to get up the stairs so I could collapse in the apartment. In one shot I am halfway to the badge. I really didn't collapse but I couldn't carry on a conversation if I had to that is for sure. It took me a few minutes to get my breathing under control. Now all I have to do is climb the hill, 3 floors and come home, 2 floors and I will have the badge. emoticon emoticon

I called my Mom and told her that I was going to get my badge for 10 floors and she just doesn't get it. Of course she says good keep it up but she doesn't get why I am so excited about it. I am excited about this whole journey except for one thing. I am losing inches in the wrong place, I don't want to lose more inches in the bust, I want to lose in the waist. I went from 38D to 32B and lost only 4" in my waist. Does anyone know how to target where you will lose the inches?

you might try 2 pound dumbbells to tighten those upper arms and those chest muscles you might like them better and they will give you more notice of the waist

Most of our breast tissue is fat, so that's where we're going to lose it first. Our hips, thighs and waist take longer because of all the muscles involved, BUT with all of the walking and climbing you are doing, you will notice a change very soon!!

The rest of your body will catch up with your bust. My belly is always the last to go. It's weird how it goes on all over, but comes off in places....

Congrats on your goal for getting that badge!

emoticon emoticon YOU'RE EARNING THAT BADGE!! emoticon

You can't target specific areas to lose the weight from (more's the pity) but if you're not doing any strength training (and there is a wide variety here on SPARKS under the fitness exercise demo section) you should!
Not only will you lose inches, your metabolism will be raised and you will look slimmer over all. Start slowly and add as you gain strength, I'll happily give you more pointers

best wishes emoticon

There is no way to target where you will lose the fat. I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, you tend to lose fat equally all over, even in places where there isn't much fat, so as you are losing, your face may appear too thin while your thighs and hips are still larger than you like. Your body does redistribute this fat, but it can't keep up while you are still losing weight. Once you reach your goal weight, or get to a point where you are maintaining a certain weight, it may take your body about 6 months after that to finish redistributing the fat more evenly.

Exercise will help define muscles under the fat layer in certain areas, so doing exercises for your core muscles may help firm and tone the stomach muscles, which will help with your waist measurements, but they don't actually burn fat just in the waist area.

wishing it was possible to target where you lose the inches, but that's not how the body works. **SIGH**

Congratulations on your accomplishment! Proud of you. VERY proud. HUGS
