Well, last week my goal was to get up each morning before school and get on the elliptical regardless of how long I actually worked out, I just needed to do it consistently each day. I successfully worked out 15 minutes each day before school. It wore me out, but it was a good worn-out feeling. I also told my students all about it. We talked about resolutions and how they only work if you have a plan, otherwise "New Years Resolutions" are just a big joke that seem to end up more of an excuse to not stick to something. I also explained to them that my resolution or goal wasn't to be on a diet or to lose weight, but to simply be a healthier me by making the right choices. They help keep me on track.
We brought back "push-up" Fridays, too. Push-up Fridays helped me so much last year. Every Friday, when the bell rings for class to end, I do a set of push-ups. I have some students that do them with me, and others simply try to remind me. I started with 5 and worked my way up to 20 each time the bell rang. It made a big difference and helped once it was time for my Army PT test. Glad to work in such a positive environment. I have great students.
Today I was gone from work for the governors inauguration. The Army Band that I am in marched in the parade and played for the ceremony. It was so insanely cold! Glad to be home. Just wish the hubs didn't have to work...and he has to work overtime this week :-( That means he works tonight, tomorrow night, has Thursday off, then has to be in on Friday morning. I hate swing shifts. It wears on him and is so unhealthy. I hope that we can get him out of that place soon. We have to get rid of the old house first.
Well, eating has been good! Looks like the scale is saying that I am doing the right things. Trying to go nice and slow, but also have to get back off of weight control (UGH--will I ever learn?). Glad we have over a month before we have drill again!
Tomorrow it is back on the elliptical to keep this consistency thing going! I also have to find the right outfit for school tomorrow. It is spirit week and tomorrow is "Heroes undercover" day. Apparently, we are supposed to dress up like nerds. Not to sure how I feel about that, but our kids really need help in the school spirit area, so I am going to do my best to support it. I seriously have the best job ever! Will post more later this week :-)
