Tomorrow hubby and I are going out with Colorado Parks and Wildlife as very special volunteers. We will be releasing (in an artificial den) 2 black bear cubs that were rehabilitated when their mother was killed in September. When they were first taken they weighed 20 pounds each. Now they weigh 100 pounds, and are well fit to survive the winter and early spring.
We may not get a good look at the cubs because they are already in their den. We'll dig out a proper place for the den and cover the entrance up with a bale or 2 of hay.
This is a real honor for us! I hope to get some pictures of everyone and the den.
The location will remain secret, and will be up in the high country! Black bears are such incredible creatures. Most people do not realize that their intelligence level is that of chimps and humans!
Tomorrow is also weigh in day, wow - lots to look forward to!
