Not too shabby of a day.

72F today, unseasonably warm. Got in a 2 hour 2.86 mile walk w/ the fam w/ some playground time afterwards.
18.65 miles; 1:25:23 ride time; 13.37 mph average speed; 35.2 mph max speed; 160 bpm max observed heart rate. Sometimes, you have a setback, and think that it might have some type of relevance. Perhaps it's natural to seek out meaning in negative events. I had a flat on my ride, it was getting dark, and I was irritated, but thought to myself, "Perhaps there is a reason I'm being delayed. Nothing to be done about it now, just roll with it." I swap out my tube, flip on my super bright Magicshine clone and ride up a dark section of trail. I see this strange rotating light, and it turns out to be 2 people rolling an LED outfitted hula hoop in the dark. I say, "I thought I was seeing things!" as I passed, and further down the trail, I see lit up a set of keys. I figured it was the hoopers so I book it back to them and luckily, it's one of theirs. Perhaps I was delayed enough to help them out. Anyway, things worked out.
Got to play some No Stress Chess w/ the kiddos & Scrabble w/ the DW.
Not too shabby, I think. Hope your 2013 is starting out well and you're on your way to the great things you want to achieve!
