So yesterday as I'm running I'm planning out what I would write in my blog to chronical my longest run yet. It was something along the lines of:
"I rocked that 6 1/2 miles and I showed it who is boss!"
Yeah...so that went out the door at about mile 1 1/2. Fail.
It was forecasted to rain and storm like crazy all day yesterday...and it did for the first part of the morning. So because I was so panicked about ruining my phone and gps watch I went to Academy to purchase a rain proof running jacket. Long story short, the one I chose isn't actually for running but it fit everything I needed so I got it. Turns out that it doesn't breath and neither could I in it! I ran in it the whole time because it looked like the sky was going to fall out at any minute...but it never did. So I thought I was going to die of suffocation and in the end I was ridiculously sweaty...yuck! Fail.
So I'm pretty sure the poor choice in outerwear was part of the reason that the run went so horribly but also because I chose a very hilly route (for the first time). There was just a lot working against me.
The good news is that I completed it even though I walked a lot. My time was pretty horrible but hopefully it can only get better from there.
Do you have a running rain jacket recommendation? I don't want to spend a ton of money since I already spent $40 on this one that I can't wear while running...but I do need one.
Other good news! Cole and my friends decided to do the Tough Mudder in Vegas (instead of Austin again) so I'm going to get to go to Vegas for the first time in April. Wooooo hooooo!!!
I'm starting my diet tomorrow...please wish me luck!
