Where has everyone gone?

Sunday, January 13, 2013

There are so many inactive members on SP. Where have they all gone? Well, I have a suspicion I know where quite a few are; FACEBOOK. And what are they doing? Playing games?

Now I can't help but think how is that helping them with their goals of a healthier lifestyle? I do wish they'd come back to SP. At least for a little while, you know just to check in and let the rest of us know they're still alive and well. Or if nothing else, delete their pages and not leave us hanging and wondering?

I know life happens and people go away and come back, but what are they doing with all of their SP email? Even I'm busy and sometimes in a hurry, but manage to jot off a few words so people know I've read what they've written. Common courtesy and all that.

Okay, but honestly, I just hope the people that are MIA are doing well and are enjoying their life. Because I hate to think they're not on SP because of the opposite.

I stepped away for awhile myself. You forget to log in one day, then you get busy the next, and it just keeps going.

I've come back after a long hiatus and I add it to my daily to-do list so I'm here. If I'm here I'm more accountable and aware of what I'm doing, and it makes all the difference in the world, because this is the only real support system I have. Nobody else in my house is overweight, or trying to lose weight, etc.

On a totally unrelated note I love the wallpaper on your page!

I think it's like any other optional activity in our lives. When we get busy, something's got to give! And sometimes that is Spark time. I figure that if I am squeezed for time, I'd better spend it actually doing the things that get the weight off rather than logging online about them!

I'm missing a few of my Sparkpeople friends.

I am back! lol. I just re-started. I do this every couple years so wouldn't want to delete my account. My excuse is having babies. It is hard to find the time. now I have to make it but tracking is sucking time away from house work. Oh well. I wish I could just think and it would enter it for me. emoticon

Or maybe they joined Curves, Weight Watchers, their community Biggest Loser contest and have limited time for Spark now? With all due respect, not all Sparkers who haven't checked in are FaceBooking Gaming Unhealthy Losers!

But hey, I do agree they should maybe say, "Bye Ya'll, I'm off to another frontier" and let others pay their respects and say their goodbyes. That would be kind. I feel the frustration too: the lady who helped me start up on this site hasn't checked in for months! No, she doesn't have FB, but does have 2 little ones to take care of and a job as well....Time can be an issue for sure.

Wow--have you been spying on my FB? LOL! I am usually pretty active on Spark, even when I'm doing poorly on my routines and tracking; however, I've just been really busy since Christmas, it seems. Mostly just life, but the cold weather and company has had me cooking and baking a bit more (and eating what I make) so I'm kind of in a funk right now. I've gained some weight back and am not happy about it.

Thankfully, a good Spark friend sent me an email, saying the team was getting worried about me...worried??!!! That woke me up! There are people here who notice when I'm MIA and they worry about me! I'll try not to let that happen again--even if I'm not making any progress to speak of.

Totally understand. Sad thing is, those that aren't checking in won't even read this blog!
I run a team and last year did statistics on it - how many active and it was super low, like maybe only 10%. I contacted the active ones, and formed a new (active) team.
I get disappointed too by the disappearance without a word. I understand that life gets busy and all, but just let a person know.

I wonder if ppl just end up not doing well and just fade away. I have been guilty of that in the past on other sites. But I am here to stay at SP!! I need what SP has to offer. But it does require serious commitment and dedication. Perhaps some people who sign up for Spark *think* they are ready, but really aren't.

Or were you perhaps talking about people who had been around for a while, then disappear? That's a whole 'nother mystery!

I hope I'm never one of those ppl who leave without a word and never find my way back. I need SP for the community and the accountability. But I do have a FB. FB is nice IF you aren't a game-junkie.

I know what you mean. I belong to the largest (Supposedly) team in PA and so few are active. If there were some way to do a head count, I think even Spark People would be surprised at how many are missing in action. emoticon

I feel sad when people disappear as well. I guess I wish they would post a final blog or something saying they are leaving. But my guess is most people drift away or feel guilty for not exercising and eating junk and then stay away.

Know what you mean about them going and not coming back. I don't have a fb page and don't want one either.

hahaha! nope, not me. I do no have a FB account...never have.

I have taken a step back because the quantity of time it was consuming from me. I have been taking a peek here and there. I will probably jump right back in again but for now I feel good about not having to be signed in all day. I have been a SP regular for 2 years and it was a time for a tiny break.

Hugs to you and by just signing in, it will make me wanna browse around.
