MOTHER NATURE ALWAYS DOES THE UNEXPECTED

Sunday, January 13, 2013

In December 2011 my Christmas cactus didn't bloom as it usually did and instead came into bloom for my Leap Year birthday on February 29, 2012. As it didn't bloom last month I am wondering if it will do the same thing this February or what else Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

In any case in June 2012 I went into The Home Depot and saw the plant called a Siam Tulip. I had never heard of it but I saw the picture on the directions of how to take care of it and bought one. The collage above shows how it blossomed. By October it has stopped blooming and I was going to give it to my neighbot Irene to plant in our building garden but just forgot.

At Thanksgiving I noticed a small bud on one of the stems and by Christmas I had two flowers in bloom and they are still going strong. I took the pictures below 3 days before Christmas. Looks like Irene will not be getting this plant--yet!

Unfortunately it doesn't have an aroma but it is a beauty!

I've never heard of those, either! Thanks for sharing pictures of such a wonderful beauty!
