I went to the store yesterday after planning the dinner menu for the next 2 weeks. I took my oldest with me and had her read the shopping list to me as I grabbed what we needed. About halfay around the produce department for the second or third lap she asked if all we were shopping for was veggies. I said nope we need chicken and a few condiments. She asked about fruit but I reminded her that I already had bought a bunch of pre chopped fruit from Fred Meyers.
Emily just shrugged and said well it looks like we will be eating a lot of veggies. I felt obliged to point out that dinner would be tacos which uses a lot of veggies and she conceded that it might not be too bad. Later when we went through the checkout line the clerk also commented on all the veggies. Emily giggled and I told the clerk it was to round out 2 weeks of dinner for six people. I was surpised that the bill was only $200.00 even with getting 6 cliff bars for my lunch...
As I planned the meals I found myself really looking at what the mains were and coming up with 1 or 2 fruits or veggies or salads to serve with the main. When I put the food in the fridge I really felt excited about making the meals and seeing everyones reactions to the extra veggies... However I've been adding them in for about a month now so maybe they won't notice.
I wonder if anyone else has started craving veggies after having done the spark fast break phase?
