Met My Goal- Half My Size- 127 Pounds Gone Forever

Sunday, January 13, 2013

This blog is 4.5 years in the making. It’s a blog that I’ve thought about and dreamt about for 4.5 years. There are times that I thought it would never come, but it did.

I’ve reached my goal. Half my original size. 126 pounds. Gone. Forever.

I started my weight loss journey in July of 2008, motivated by wedding dress shopping and the desire to start my married life as a different person. I wanted to be able to go shopping in a normal store. I wanted to eat without being embarrassed. Moreover, I didn’t want my weight to hold me back from doing anything anymore. I wanted to be healthy.

In the past 4.5 years, I have become a new person. A fit person. I’ve become a mom and maintained a healthy weight during pregnancy (twice!). I’ve become a runner and am training for my second half marathon. I’ve lost a total of 127 pounds and have gained a new life.

I have an amazing, supporting husband, friends and family that have held me accountable for the past 4.5 years. They’ve believed in me when I didn’t think I’d make it. They’ve encouraged me when I knocked myself down. They’ve been a key part of my success. I thank God for bringing each and every one of them into my life!

I’d love to say that it was easy and that anyone can lose half their body weight, but that would be a lie. It has not been an easy journey- it’s hard work. It’s hard to resist temptation and eat clean. It’s hard to say no to sweets and yes to sweat. It takes an incredible amount of determination, self-motivation, and belief in yourself.

For those of you that are in the beginning of your weight-loss journey, don’t give up. You can be here too, but you’re going to have to work. It’s not about a magic pill or special diet. It’s about eating healthy (most of the time) and exercising. It’s not about being “good” or “bad.” It’s about a lifestyle change. It’s about you re-writing your future. And you can do it!
