Not sure how to title my blog today.

Seems like my time of awesome big and crazy hikes has come to a temporary halt. Just when it seemed like I had found the perfect activity level for maintenance.

The story is that during yesterday's outing I had another "ankle incident". I believe it is now time to take this serious. I will make a Dr's appointment first thing in the morning.

Naturally I won't stop moving, but will opt to stay away from rugged terrain for a while. This means, more urban hikes. I'll probably still be able to keep my step count up, but I won't get the awesome floor counts for a while.

I'll have to watch and see what effect this will have on my maintenance and will have to compensate accordingly.

So I'm a little bit bummed out today.
Guess I'll grab my puppy and go for a walk down the river bed.

Here is yesterday's hike.

And yes there were stairs here, too - 500+ one way (lost count...)

I'm glad you're getting it checked out by a doctor. I'm still dealing some with foot problems and have an appt with my podiatrist but in the meantime, I've found a 'magic cream' that has taken the pain away and seems to be healing some of the problems that caused the pain. It's called Topricin Foot Therapy and because that has worked so well, I'm trying Topricin regular cream for my back pain. I'm not saying it will help whatever your problem is and you should definitely get it checked out but it's sure helped me. Got it at Sprouts!

Either way, I sincerely hope you get things fixed up and get back to hiking ASAP - it's frustrating when the old 'bod' won't cooperate!!

I'm with DIET_FRIEND. Central FL is flat and the weather is humid most of the year making it hard to exercise too strenuously outdoors. Alway enjoy your pictures. -- Lou

I would love to live in a hilly environment with great hiking available. Where I live is very flat and the bugs can be a problem when it's warm which it is most of the year!

Girl you get that ankle checked...I thought you had already. I'm so proud of all that you have done to keep yourself on track. But you need to take care of you in all ways. Walking with your pup by the waterbed isn't a bad day out either. I've seen days where I haven't moved a muscle. But i'm getting myself past that and moving forward. And to think I just used you in my blog, I envy your hikes and that you have a place to do them. but i'm back to my walks and for now that is good for me. Let us know about the ankle.

Based on the number of urban outdoorsman I see around downtown, I figured there must be some good trails around there. I just haven't found them yet.

Not sure what the prob is the with the ankle, but maybe mountain biking might be more suitable for the short term? Could be worse, dunno, but ask the doc.

    WOW those steps are beautiful.

Yup, I think it's time to see the Doc. Hopefully
it won't take long to heal

WOW, impressive hike! Unfortunately, as Jesus said, "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." We can't outspirit biology and I think you know you shouldn't even try!

If you are a good girl, and give your body time to heal, you'll be back at it in no time.

Thank you for sharing these two pictures of your hike yesterday. It looked awesome!
I am really sorry to read about your ankle. I had the same problem with my left ankle exactly one year ago. Now I am seeing my osteopath and wearing inserts, and it is all ok. I hope you find a solution quickly too!
