I've posted this picture before, but it never gets old as a reminder of the journey. Many of you know my BFF MichCleary from SparkPeople. This picture was taken of us in Cancun, Mexico, and for me, I'm certain it's a good representation of where I was when the scale went north of 300.
In 2009 I elected to have LapBand surgery...not too long after that, Michelene embarked on her own journey toward health, using SparkPeople, clean eating, and her trademark discipline to work-out on a regular basis. She has lost over 95 lbs. With the help of Michelene, other friends, SparkPeople, and the LapBand, I have lost roughly the same amount.
In just over 60 days, I'll celebrate my 4th anniversary since the LapBand. Lots of ups and downs, lots of changes along the way, lots of victories...lots of defeats. Isn't that how life goes? It's the grand collection of threads that weave together the tapestry of our lives. Sometimes, when it comes to weight loss and fitness, I feel like I'm clawing and scraping, just to hang on to the ground I've gained...and keep OFF the pounds I've lost.
Tucked into this fascinating conundrum of one woman's journey toward better health is this powerful truth:
Going into my 4th anniversary...yes, I've yo-yo'd a bit from one season to the next, but I have maintained, as has my BFF MichCleary, my 90 lb loss, and I rejoice in enormous victory!
As part of my commitment to a lifetime of good health, I became a Coach with Beachbody. What a blessing! The work-outs, the Shakeology, all of the encouragement from a community of people who love being healthy, and love helping OTHERS become healthy!
2013 is going to be a fantastic year - I'm sure of it! God is at work, changing me, helping me to know more each day that I am loved, and that it is never too late to become the person I was created to be! The same is true for you too, for all of us.
I don't spend as much time Sparking as I used to, not because I don't love Spark and need the tools, but because part of my growing process involves making good decisions about how I spend time. My primary focus on Spark is to log food, log fitness, and when time allows, to enjoy some socializing too.
Quick fixes don't work. If anyone thinks LapBand surgery is a quick fix, send them over to chat with me!
I can testify that it is NOT a quick fix. The goal is to change our life, by changing our lifestyle!
Oh - by the way, I'm starting a virtual Challenge Team on February 1. 10 minute exercise everyday for 60 days. If this sounds like something you'd like to do, we would love to have you.
