Wow. I did not realize that it has been so long since I wrote a blog! I suppose that there is plenty of things going on that would be great to unload from my mind, namely revolving around work.
I have been putting in a lot of OT to try and stay ahead of the curve with all of the crazy deadlines falling one right after the other. I loved taking time off for Christmas to spend quality time with my son, but what with all of the hours missed from being sick and taking care of Ash while he was sick, I am really feeling the time crunch now. It is kind of stressful to me, but I am making sure that Mondays do not have me going in early and that instead of working 10 hour days, I'll work 9 our 9.5 hour days. That has surprisingly made a huge difference for me. I am actually feeling pretty good, though I did work today and last Saturday as well.
My son is not very happy with me being gone on Saturdays, but I try to explain that it is a temporary thing. I definitely try to make the time that we spend together something special and to keep myself in a patient and happy mood since he deserves to have attention and no stress. I've also been battling another cold, but I seem to have won. I could not miss any work because I have no PTO and need to save up for my trip down to California for a race on February 2nd. Super excited!
My friend Chelsea and I are training for it and are going to drive down and stay with my grandmother that weekend to run in the race together. It promises to be a lot of fun and challenging since my first and last race was the Pear Blossom two years ago. I'm in much better shape now than I was then, so I cannot wait to see how I do! It's kept me pretty motivated with my workouts, although being sick did put a kink in my plans. Glad to be back to training now!
I was also asked to design the cover for the June edition of our flyer, which is also exciting since I've never designed one. Hopefully I can really brainstorm some ideas going along with the theme and get some sketches done. From there, I can flesh it out and present my ideas to my boss. It will be challenging, but I want to push myself as a designer as well.
I thank God so much for keeping me going and keeping my family safe. I think about my sister all of the time, especially since she recently had a scary experience where she lives. I pray for her safety and good health, and that she can find a better place to live. I thank God for the opportunities that He has offered me and ask for the strength to see them through.
I hope everyone has a great night and a great end to their weekends!
