Was it a rest day??

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Well if walking over 8 miles, 30 minutes on my rower, 60 lunges, crunches on the stability ball, and a challenge video constitute a rest day. lol!! It FELT like an easy day, which is what counts I guess. It was a gorgeous day outside, so I walked more than I planned. I even walked Cooper off his leash for a short walk up at my parents' farm, which he loved. The rower feels easier than the elliptical, and it is a completely different motion, with no impact on my feet and ankles. Maybe I should call today an active recovery day!

I had a lovely lunch with my parents. I cooked haddock, corn and soybeans (both frozen fresh from their garden), beets, and homemade bread with butter... oh and red bell pepper slices. I cooked the fish with green onion and lemon. Topped it with a dab of tarter sauce just because it was on hand. Very yummy, and very simple. As for the potluck, I did pretty well. I just picked a few foods to taste and didn't go back for seconds, even though there was a LOT of food left. I did have an empanada, but I tracked it, and I stayed at the low end of my calorie range. It was kind of a strange meal, with latin, italian, and other ethnic choices spread out over three tables. I managed to leave as they were starting to serve dessert, so no one could try and convince me to "just try" whatever they brought. I have said it before, but I have a hard time saying no to someone's face. I would rather just avoid the situation. None of the desserts looked so tempting to me anyway. I would rather have a small piece of dark chocolate than goopy cakes and puddings.

I guess staying at the low end of my calorie range was one of my main accomplishments for the day... oh, and pinning my brother down for a day to go swimming this week. (We are going Wednesday at midday.)

Tomorrow I am going to try and take it even easier than I did today. It is supposed to rain, so Cooper probably won't want to go for long walks, which should keep my mileage down. This is a real test of my ability to take two rest days in a row. Can she do it??

A woman after my own heart. Today is my "rest" day, and I started it by getting up at 5:30am to Spark, then at 9am I walked 4.1 miles (75 minutes), and now I have some stretching activities that I like to do on Sundays. Mostly the stretching is to loosen my muscles and joints up for the coming week, and all of them can be done in bed!!

But I am ended up with 130 minutes of exercise on my "rest" day. The one thing I can say about today is that when I get to the exercise I have planned and DON'T want or feel like doing it, I will decide to not do it. But I have yet to come across that moment! LOL

Great minds think alike, and baby, ain't we grand?

Hugs and Love,
Angela

I wish I could call days like that rest days. My rest days in at least 30 minutes of exercise and playing with the kids. Glad you had fun. Good for you on the portion control, it's not easy at a potluck. Wishing you a sparking week.

My best defense at potlucks are my allergies. It is real, I don't make up stuff, but it gets me of the desdert hook all the time
