Well if walking over 8 miles, 30 minutes on my rower, 60 lunges, crunches on the stability ball, and a challenge video constitute a rest day. lol!! It FELT like an easy day, which is what counts I guess. It was a gorgeous day outside, so I walked more than I planned. I even walked Cooper off his leash for a short walk up at my parents' farm, which he loved. The rower feels easier than the elliptical, and it is a completely different motion, with no impact on my feet and ankles. Maybe I should call today an active recovery day!
I had a lovely lunch with my parents. I cooked haddock, corn and soybeans (both frozen fresh from their garden), beets, and homemade bread with butter... oh and red bell pepper slices. I cooked the fish with green onion and lemon. Topped it with a dab of tarter sauce just because it was on hand. Very yummy, and very simple. As for the potluck, I did pretty well. I just picked a few foods to taste and didn't go back for seconds, even though there was a LOT of food left. I did have an empanada, but I tracked it, and I stayed at the low end of my calorie range. It was kind of a strange meal, with latin, italian, and other ethnic choices spread out over three tables. I managed to leave as they were starting to serve dessert, so no one could try and convince me to "just try" whatever they brought. I have said it before, but I have a hard time saying no to someone's face. I would rather just avoid the situation. None of the desserts looked so tempting to me anyway. I would rather have a small piece of dark chocolate than goopy cakes and puddings.
I guess staying at the low end of my calorie range was one of my main accomplishments for the day... oh, and pinning my brother down for a day to go swimming this week. (We are going Wednesday at midday.)
Tomorrow I am going to try and take it even easier than I did today. It is supposed to rain, so Cooper probably won't want to go for long walks, which should keep my mileage down. This is a real test of my ability to take two rest days in a row. Can she do it??
