I've been working out in la-la land. Merrily accumulating huge calorie counts that were bogus! I'm perturbed.
One of my holiday gifts was a gift certificate with which I purchased the Polar FT4 heart rate monitor. So today I wore it for the first time. I totally trust this thing, which is good. The bad thing is that the calories I've been adding to SP, based on my stationary bike's read-out - are TOTALLY WRONG. Like about 50% off. Part of me knew those numbers were too good to be true.
I'm trying to be realistic about this, but clearly I've created a false picture of myself here. Should I reset my numbers? Ignore this and move on? Be pleased that what in reality were fewer calories resulted in the same effects? Clearly meeting that weekly goal is going to be harder than it has been. That's not so bad, I guess.
Anyway, I'm really pleased to know that things will be right henceforward. (How often do you get to use that word?) The monitor is great - it's comfortable, and it keeps track of just what I need. I highly recommend having one so that you don't end up getting duped like me.
