Recovery time...still

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Well, it was one week ago today that my cousins, son and I spent most of the day cleaning out my Aunt's house. One cold day. One week, since I did that wonderful stunt and ended up on the ground. Ouch...that still hurts. I'm still trying to figure that one out. My Aunt can't believe it even when I tell her what I remember. I was going in the house through the door coming from the garage. My foot got caught in the storm door. I remember trying to get it unstuck. Next thing I remember is "hell I'm going to fall" shortly followed by "hell I fell" and my cousin says "sitting on the job?" and I reply "I fell" to which he immediately comes over and helps me to my feet (back in the garage). As a result my right leg had a real sore crampy spot below my knee and it felt like I had twisted my entire right side of my body. As time wore on I felt like someone had slammed in my back too. Apparently I did and twist because instead of facing in like I was headed, I ended up facing out towards the garage. Like a dummy I kept working, taking one short break at my nice warm house then headed back out. As a result I'm sick and sore. I have bronchitis. The chest congestion I had is clearing up nicely due to the antibiotics I'm on. I did have sense enough to call the doctor because I wouldn't have made it out the front door otherwise. So I'm on a ten day course of antibiotics. I'm also on my inhalers, cough meds and feeling quite a bit better. I'm still a long way from well, but at least I'm improved. Serious lack of appetite. I said the words I never dreamed I'd say "All this eating is making me tired". Now mind you I had ate 1/2 of a baked potato and that was it. I had been drinking some water and lemon lime gatorade. I had to force myself to drink because I do not want to go to the hospital because my kidneys have shut down again. Did that last year...not a good thing.
Sooooo, all those wonderful plans for the new year have gone down the tubes. I've done a little house work, laundry - that sort of thing.
My dog is very unhappy because she hasn't been on a walk for a week now. Today's raining. It warmed up to 63 but it's supposed to drop down to overnight low of 23 with those wonderful winter winds followed up by snow, sleet, freezing rain and all that winter stuff I don't want to see. I had 6 inches of snow after Christmas - I'm done with it thank you very much, now let's advance to spring.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Take care.

Rest as much as your body wants Ramona. Let the dog out in the backyard and while seated throw a stick or frisbee or ball for a few minutes. She will love that

Yikes! Falls are scary and I realize, personally, that I don't recover like I used to. Remember as a kid you'd just cry, then get up and start playing again? Not so much now. Anyway, feel better, take care of yourself and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

emoticon went through a bout of that myself a couple weeks ago .... those falls are not what we need to be doing !! I had one of those in my garage ... stepped on a rubber mat that had water under it and I kept on going ... no phone, no nothing to try and get help ... DH was in the back yard .... finally got myself up and crawled up the steps .... what a deal .... you get well and don't worry about the "small" stuff .... Roc
