excessive exercise and thinking about my walk in two months

Saturday, January 12, 2013

I find watching Biggest Loser makes me want to exercise more hours. I see the contestants exercise six hours a day and see them get super fit. I know that it's no sustainable, but I feel like I should exercise more when I see that show.

I don't think excessive exercise always leads to weight loss. Many people can exercise long hours and not lose weight or even gain weight. Some people say that exercise causes them to eat more and some say that it causes them to eat less. There are others like me that it could have either effect or neither. I find often when I'm walking I think about food, but I'm not alway hungry when I'm done my walk.

Anyway, I won't track what I eat on my walk. I will be exercise excessively during it by definition since I expect to walk anywhere from ten to fourteen hours a day while doing it. I could also say working retail is the same. When I worked at Walmart, I didn't have to watch what I ate and I weighed about what I weigh now.

I wonder how much weight I will lose on my walk. I hope it's not a lot since I fear losing muscle and bone. Lose of muscle and/or bone can make it more likely that I will break bones when I fall during this walk. I wonder if I should try to force myself to eat more, even junk food to gain weight before I leave. Then, if I decide to do that, I can do that the week before going. I don't have to decide that now.

I feel like I need to obsess about food just to eat enough lately.

When I marathon train it is harder to stay small than when I train less. Odd, but true...

It sounds like you're going to the extreme with the exercise. Remember on TBL they have a team of doctors on hand. Noone needs more than one hour a day for exercise. More than that and you stand the chance of severe damage to the joints. Please rethink taking such an extreme step. emoticon
