There's a few different things I want to do more of this year. So much so I have them all written down so I can keep referring to it and am tracking how often I've done them. Meditating is one of them.
I've meditated before and like a lot of things in my life, my consistency wavers - I'll do it a lot for a while and then forget about it until something brings it back into my life. I know I benefit from it, I just have difficulties with sustaining things. I have an ADD addictive personality (not actually diagnosed just I tend to get into habits of being highly interested in something to the point it's all I can think about and then moving on).
When I meditate, I notice I am much calmer. I am better able to think rationally and react emotionally less. I can get very emotional so that's a huge benefit for me (and my boyfriend!). I am also more appreciative of what's around me, the little daily things that often can go unnoticed with the hectic pace of our lives.
So, saying this, I am happy to say that today and the three days before, I meditated every day at increasing lengths. Partly why I was able to describe all the benefits - because I am currently experiencing them (just finished a session so feeling extra calm). 2013 for me is not just about weight loss, it's about a healthier me all over and after what I've experienced the last few days, I think I'm going to make it one of my top priorities to maintain.
And another bonus - yesterday was my first day since last weekend that I went through a day without a fever or headache popping up! I'm still going to take it easy though and not start exercise until next week. Taking care of me :)
