Chilly Saturday morning

Saturday, January 12, 2013

The nighttime low got into the teens here last night. I know everybody back east is going to snicker, but it's rare here in California, even in winter.

I am trying very hard to get past the notion that weekend breakfasts MUST include pork products and copious amounts of cheese, but it's difficult. It almost feels like I'm breaking a rule or something. Right now I'm having a bowl of Weetabix cereal with hot milk and (just a little) butter. I do have to admit, the hot whole wheat porridge the cereal disintegrated into IS very comfort-food feeling.

Earlier this week I cleaned all the spoiled food from my fridge. I swear, there was stuff in there I think could talk. One thing I had was a carton of ricotta that had gotten shoved to the back. As I was about to toss it, I looked at the expiration date. It still has almost a week and a half to go! So it'll get eaten and not wasted (which is great, since I love ricotta). Score!

I'm back on the "nice list" at work, but it's come at a price. The replacement my boss hired to take over my A/R has absolutely NO medical billing experience. So for the foreseeable future I continue to have to do both jobs while he trains. I had so looked forward to getting rid of the A/R! So on top of the payment posting yesterday, I was back on the phone wrangling with insurance companies who talked total nonsense. Remember that old commercial? "My name Peggy. Vaht is problem, please?" I am not exaggerating, that's exactly what it's like.

Oh, well. I'm enjoying my coffee right now, and I'm spending some quality time with my guys today while I work on the afghan I'm knitting and doing (a few) chores (maybe).

Hopefully the A/R training will go quickly so you can be done with it completely! Have a good week.

I never snicker at people who suffer from cold weather.... I do too and I choose to live here. The real kicker for me was in November when we went to Tucson and it was warmer in Iowa!!!
Just think about when that guy is trained and you are over and done with A/R.

I agree: teens is waaaaay too chilly for this FL girl, too! Once it gets down in the 60s, I'm cranky. LOL

I no comprendo the no pork or cheese concept. ??? For me, it would be no wheat products or carbs! (eg, cereal) I cook whole packages of bacon and put them in the fridge and eat them like candy. yum!

Condolences and commiseration on the new hire training. Hopefully he's got some experience that he can build upon! At least he has a real human to work with, instead of some automated loop on the phone that tells you you have an important call but they can't tell you what it's about until you call them or push some button and go round the loop awaiting their pleasure. Then they want you to tell them what it's about! yeesh How do I know. YOU called ME. urk

    Patience. Hang in there

well, hope your replacement learns quickly. I used to love Weetabix, but I think I ate it too much so haven't eaten it in a long while. Maybe time to try it again!

Hugs and have a good week.

Enjoy your coffee and see what you can do to get your replacement trained. You can do it.

I hope your replacement gets trained fast, so you can have that behind you. And while y'all are having a cold snap, we have unseasonably warm temps here in Knoxville. Feels like we're waiting for the other shoe (or snowflake) to fall. Enjoy your weekend!

We are at 74 here in Harrisbrg, Arkansas (4 PM). The wind has really picked up in the last half hour, and soon the temperature will start dropping--tomorrow's high only 42 and low 24. Brrrrrrrr! emoticon

Been there, done that (dealing with insurance companies) and that's such a good comparison!! Hang in there, it's bound to get better!

We are in the 80's today in south GA and that is not normal for us. Last week it was a lot cooler--in the 40's during the day and mighty windy. Weather is crazy this year.

I'm in Illinois and we are getting that cold blast this evening along with some snow.

Just focus on the future - eventually, the A/R replacement will take over his duties, and you'll be able to relax on that score AND know that you garnered good karma points.

A few years ago, I spent a month in Australia, and I think I had Weetabix cereal practically every morning. I still get a little nauseus just thinking about it. emoticon

Enjoy knitting your afghan. I've been knitting the same pair of socks for the past year or so (so much to do, so little time to fit it all in!), but I've resolved to knitting socks for everyone for next Christmas. I'm going to start with the adults now, since our feet will pretty much stay the same, and will do the kids socks later in the year.
