The scale cooperated with me again this week and I'm back down to where I was before Christmas. I got out for a couple of nice long walks this week and I've been putting some extra elbow grease into my house cleaning on the cold days when I'm stuck inside.
The challenge for this week was to research and use a natural remedy for something that ails you. I chose green tea for its ability to slow the absorption of glucose into the blood as well as its reported weight loss benefits.
It seems like the most challenging time of day for me is mid-afternoon. I often find myself searching for a sweet or salty snack while my son is napping. I usually try eating a piece of fruit first but I often give in to my cravings and lately I've been buying and eating lots of Thinsations (packaged 100 calorie snacks). Those things are full of unpronounceable ingredients and I'm ready to ditch them from my diet. I don't know why I even started buying them...what was I thinking?
Anyway, on Sunday I started drinking a cup of green tea each afternoon and I love my new tea break routine! The tea gives me an energy boost and it has become a nice little peaceful ritual for me. I feel like my sugar cravings are becoming less intense and I was able to make it through most afternoons without raiding the cupboards.
Step two will be to replace my morning half-caff coffee with a cup of green tea instead!
