Giant Change of Pace!

Saturday, January 12, 2013

It's hard to believe that i haven't blogged since January 1st, but then, it's been quite a busy, exciting, frustrating, life changing time since then. I did take the 3 days a week job. Needless to say, it's been more than 3 days a week! I am so hoping that it will get better - not the job, but my time management skills. I know that after three and a half years there is going to be a learning (or re-learning) curve for what I'm doing. This week I spent one of my days off shadowing the teacher who is leaving so I could assume responsibility for the six classes the next day. My other day off was spent lesson planning and catching up on other volunteer commitments. Now I'm off for the weekend and, boy, do I have a lot to do!

I haven't been to the gym since before Christmas and my daily fitness plans and challenges have gone by the wayside. Even with poor nutrition this week, I've lost a pound - probably because I'm taking stairs all day picking up students and dropping them off. I KNOW I have to do better, because, if I don't, my health will suffer - and I won't have any clothes to wear because I gave all my big clothes away.

I just wanted you to know why you haven't heard from me or seen me much on line. I do like the school and the students who come to me. It is nice having small groups; I feel I can really help then become better readers. I am committed to finishing out the year, but time will tell, if this will fit into my long range plan.

I am 64 and working FT which of course is more than 40 hours per week. You will find yourself getting more organized and just letting go of some of the nonessential activities we do when we have the time. Good challenge and look at the impact you will have on these students! emoticon
