Update

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Sorry I hadn't got back to my update on my eyes until now. I do have cataracts, but they are nowhere near ready to be removed. No macular degeneration . Woo rah. The retinopathy is a little bit worst, treatment is to keep powering my sugars and keep them stable. Which being here on sp with my friends will help me accomplished that and other things. This is not a set back, but a motivator to push harder, because no one wants to lose their sight, and there is no reason to,if you can prevent it. So I am going to push forward and in July, I can see at least they will be the same and no worst. Week-ends are usually a struggle for me , with hubby home and that is an excuse, it is up to me to be strong and stay on track and I am.He means well and if he suggest something that doesn't work for me I am going to say no I am working on my eye health he can related to that better. Have a great week-end. Tuesday I go to heart doctor ,checking up on 40 percent blockages he found in 2006,last year no change and since I have started a healthier lifestyle I am not worried about that.

Your plan is solid. It is not easy facing physical problems, but for me, I'd rather know about 'em and do what I can that put my head in the sand and be all "Oh woe is me". That just never worked too well for me.

Wishing you all good luck! You can do this. HUGS

I'm so glad your results weren't as bad as you feared! As far as your hubby goes, I know it's hard for some people to accept any kind of change, but once he sees you're serious, he'll soon get used to it. Stay strong!

Maybe you can have a sit down with your husband and carefully go over the results of your eye exam to reinforce that you need to be vigilant about stabilizing your blood sugars at a lower level. Then translate that into behaviors he can do that will help you. For instance, if he knows what snacks are OK for you, when he helps himself to some ice cream from the fridge, he can say, "I'm getting myself some ice cream. Would you like some _____ (nuts, rice cakes, fruit - you fill in the blank)." He would still be able to do a nice thing for you, but with a more positive outcome. This brings the focus to the positive actions, rather than things he shouldn't do. He can feel like a positive partner to you.
