20,000 steps!

Saturday, January 12, 2013

so in december, i got a fitbit. and of course december brought with it holidays, company, cold weather, snow, and colds - not to mention preparations to leave WA and come to hawaii for the rest of winter. which meant it got harder and harder to get our miles - or steps - in. but now we are here, and with a walk on the beach in the morning, and another walk in late afternoon, for the first time we managed 20,000 steps - which it turns out is equivalent to 8 miles. and that was a typical day for us all summer.

here's a pic of pelle on the beach:

made a delicious bean salad for lunch and tofu stir fry for dinner and DH said it feels easier to eat vegan plant-based when we are here. and maybe it is... we keep it simple, but delicious.

so we have the miles, though we aren't ready to run yet with our colds, and the diet - and now, to start sneaking some crunches back into my life...

Good for you getting those 8 miles of walking in. Hope both your colds are better. Did you take your dog with you on the plane? Did you have to do quarentine?

I love your picture. Great job of getting on track and staying healthy.

I was looking at a fitbit after Christmas. I just gave away my 2 heart rate monitors. I don't like chest straps, even the "comfortable" ones. How does a fitbit measure the intensity of your workout? I know it gives you calories burned, so it must know if I'm walking or running.
