Last night my hubby and I visited our community college's aquatic center. We've been considering joining but thought we'd try it out first and check out the facilities and crowds before making the commitment.
I wasn't sure if I could swim the width of the pool at first because it's more than twice the length of our backyard swimming pool. Anyhow, I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised I could make it all the way across. I swam and walked for 30 minutes. It was great! Very relaxing.
The "aah ha" moment came when I was leaving the pool. The pool is handicap accessible and has a ramp to enter and exit the pool. When I took the first step up the ramp and lost some of the bouyancy the extra weight I'm carrying started to hit me. It was like I felt 25 pounds heavier with each of step I took up the ramp. I wanted to feel like I did while in the water. Then it dawned on me that once I get all the extra weight off I can feel like that! I can move around even easier than in the water because I won't have the water resistance. How great that will be!
We are going to join the aquatic center. I'm going to enjoy water exercise and losing the extra weight. I'm going to enjoy even more the ease of movement I'm going to achieve both in the water and out once the weight is gone for good.
