my son

Friday, January 11, 2013

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support for my 12 year old son who is in the hospital. He is improving and I now have time to let you all know how he is doing and what happened.

Sunday morning he woke up having seizure like activity and was incoherent. After being at the hospital he began to hallucenate and have dellusions. He could not control his body, but was not having seizures. Two days ago, he began to improve. He knew who he was and where he was. He has steadily gotten stronger both physically and mentally.

This morning the Doctors were caustiously optomistic that he would be here a week or two more. He then began walking on his own. Needless to say I cried. He still is uncoordinated when he tries to go too fast and has some mental confusion, but is a far cry from where he was. He could still have a relapse, but we are hopeful after 3 days of steady improvement that this will not be the case. If he continues to improve as he has he will get to come home sometime next week. Yeah!

It is still unclear as to what was the cause. It is currently being called viral encephalitis. They are also treating for an autoimmune disorder in case that is the cause. We won't have the tests until next week or so on if this is the cause.

He still has a ways to go to be back to where he was, but he is quickly getting better.

Thank you again for all the prayers and support.

Thoughts and Prayers are with you and your family! What a difficult time. Medicine is a science, they are pretty good about finding root causes. It just may take some time.

I am putting him (and you) on my prayers list immediately. Please know you are all in God's hands, may he give specific knowledge to your son's doctor's so they can find the reason quickly and treat him.
