I'm going to be a champion!

Friday, January 11, 2013

Every month my company provides us with a newsletter about health and wellness. Today I was reading the January edition and I immediately knew that I had found a new quote, mantra, and motivator!

"I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.' - Muhammad Ali

It's that simple. Every time I am tired, hot, or in pain while working out, I just need to remember and tell myself this. I have been very good at pushing myself the last 8 weeks to move and keep moving but, this quote really added fuel to the fire. At the beginning, I had to pep talk myself to go to the gym. I sometimes came up with a long list of excuses. I am glad I didn't just give up and fall down on those poor, lame excuses. I enjoy the gym, I actually love going! I feel so great after a good workout! It's an amazing feeling. I feel 5 years younger. I am so excited to see how I feel in a few more month. I have lost 26 pounds since starting Sparkpeople in November. I have been able to increase the amount of exercising I can do and the number of days I exercise. I may not be preparing for a sold out boxing match, the Superbowl, or the Stanley Cup but, I am in training to be my own kind of champion. So when I am getting pain in my hips and feet from pounding the pavement or my arms are burning from the weight machines, I'll tell myself, "Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life a champion!"

Happy Sparking!

Great motivation!! I personally tell myself "I can do anything for a minute" (That last minute always seems the longest for me.)

As a nurse I've also seen a lot of pain and suffering and I tell myself "If they can endure that, I can endure this!"

Way to go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!
