Today I had my final post surgical checkup. This week was my last week of eye drops and physical restrictions. I was pretty excited to get the all clear from my doc.
Well, on Tuesday, I noticed that one of my eye drops really stung badly when I put it in my eye. I thought that maybe it was just that the bottle somehow got messed up. So that night, I used a different bottle. Same thing happened. These drops never did that in my left eye and hadn't ever done it up to that point. So I didn't use them the next day. It kinda felt like something was in my eye, so I used my artificial tears. It got worse on Thursday. My eye actually hurt kinda bad. It got really red then swelled up a little. This morning it was a little crusty and still swollen a little. I didn't go to the urgent care since I had an appointment early afternoon and there didn't appear to be any evidence of an infection.
Turns out that I had developed a toxicity reaction to one of the drops and it had started to damage the cornea in my eye. It's not too serious and it will heal. It will just take time. So, now I have to use a different drop to help soothe and heal. I have to use it once every 2 hours which will be a little bit of a pain; but it could have been much worse. I have to go back next week for another check up. Hopefully I'll get the all clear then. I have to say, the new drops are helping already. I went straight to the pharmacy after my appointment to get them and started right away.
Physical restrictions are lifted now. Yay! That means I'm going to start adding some strength training back in to my days. I'm going to try and work out a plan this weekend. I know if I try to do too much at once I can get myself off track so I want to try and balance out some cardio with ST. Other than that, I'm still plugging away. A little disappointed; but relieved that my eye turned out to be nothing super serious.
Oh... I did have a nice little surprise today. My doc was running a little late (that's not the surprise - LOL!). The optician associated with his practice was in today so I decided to kill some time in her shop. Turns out she had all her sunglasses 50% off. Woot! Love a good sale. So I was able to get a pretty cute pair of sunglasses today! Off the shelf... I didn't have to wait for prescription lenses. How cool was that?
Catch you all later! Spark on my friends!
