Day 5- Slow and Steady!

Alright, I don't have too much to say, but want to make sure I can hit my first week's goal of blogging at least 3X this week. Today is Day 5 and I feel great! I have "dieted" MANY times in my life...each time a little different. I have no major weightloss "deadlines" (wedding, reunion, vacation...) coming up. Therefore, I plan to take this new, healthy lifestyle SLOW AND STEADY. This is my new motto :) I've lost weight for specific events before. We've all done the " I need to lose 10 pounds before I go on vacation!" or "I have to lose weight before I stand up at my friend's wedding." Sometimes a deadline is great, but I usually lose the weight in unhealthy ways, too quickly, and end up gaining it back shortly after my event. :(
My 20 pound weight-loss goal is going to be different this time. I am taking this seriously, but not stressing myself out and obsessing about my weight like I have done in the past. Many times I would feel stressed, cranky, SO hungry, and edgy. I liked the results, but HATED the process.
I am starting with small changes and goals. This week I am making sure to drink more water than normal. Honestly, that is easy since I am terrible about drinking water and tend to drink Diet Coke, coffee, and other things instead. I have averaged about 4-5 glasses of water over these past 5 days. It is definitely better. I will keep working my way up to 8! I am also making sure to each healthier foods- not as many sweets or fast food. I definitely feel less bloated and a bit better already.
I haven't allowed myself to be overly hungry so far, which I have definitely done in the past. I am still adjusting to eating less and not grabbing unhealthy snacks or eating simply because I am bored. PROGRESS!
Ok, so there it is. I guess I had more to say than I thought I did! :)
