Bonus blog: an opportunistic run

Friday, January 11, 2013

It was one of those rarities: a day that topped 50 F in January in Nebraska. Unfortunately, it was a work day. Fortunately, I have a boss with some flexibility, and when I wrote her an e-mail mid-day explaining I was going to wrap it up and head out because I wanted to run outside, her response was "have fun."

And that's what I did. Came home, changed, and went out the door with my tunes in the ears (I have put together a marathon playlist) and runkeeper tracking my time and miles and put in an "easy" 8.61 miles.

Felt good. Life's good. Spark on. Marathon in May? You shall be mine! emoticon

p.s. And all it cost was 3 hours of vacation leave... emoticon

wow!--Nice you could get out!----A fibre Optic cable broke , about 100 miles from here so it knocked all cell service out and internet , for the day yesterday--It was a quiet day---I'm up at 3am as one of the Germans was hearing thunder ---had to put his Thunder Shirt on him----so checked and all is good on the computer now---This mild weather here in January is weird!     emoticon to take advantage of the weather and be outside. It is cold in Southern CA this week, but I have bundled up and walked every day and even walked the parking garage at the mall to get out of the wind. Great attitude and vacation time well spent. Have a great weekend. emoticon

Sometimes, it's worth that vacation time on the spur of the moment. 50 F in January is just too nice to pass up!

Great going!! Smart to use your valuable time off to enjoy and prepare and improve your fitness. This week we've been really warm -- around mid 80's, setting two high temp records for the date. It'll be good for tomorrow morning's run!

That's great! You're so lucky. I haven't run at all this week, we've had 9 or 10 inches of snow and everything is an icy mess.
